A$AP Rocky set to buy English football club after not guilty verdict

On Tuesday, February 19, 2025, A$AP Rocky was acquitted of two felony counts of assault related to a 2021 altercation with another hip-hop artist in Hollywood.
With the legal matter now behind him, the rapper, whose real name is Rakin Athelston Mayers, is set to move forward with a significant business venture.
Sky Sports reports that Rocky, alongside a consortium of investors, is poised to complete the takeover of Tranmere Rovers, a League Two football club in England. This deal, which has been in the works for nearly a year, will see the group acquire over 80% of the club for £15 million.
Despite the majority stake moving into Rocky’s consortium’s hands, Santini Group, an Indonesian investment firm, will retain its minority stake and continue to have a presence at Prenton Park, the club’s home stadium.
Rocky, who shares two children with pop star Rihanna, is making his first major foray into the world of football ownership with this acquisition.
