Vice president Shettima returns after Côte d’Ivoire energy summit

Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Nigeria after attending the inaugural International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE Expo) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Shettima arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night.

During the summit, themed “Policies and Strategies for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries,” Shettima called for improved governance, transparency, and stronger collaboration among African leaders and industry stakeholders. He emphasized the need to harness Africa’s natural resources for sustainable development, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to building an inclusive extractive industry.

The Vice President also highlighted Nigeria’s focus on transparency, regional partnerships, and local capacity development within the energy and extractive sectors. The summit gathered policymakers and experts from across the continent to explore innovative strategies for resource management and energy security.

Though no official statement was issued about his return, Shettima’s engagement at the event underscored Nigeria’s leadership role in shaping Africa’s extractive and energy policies for long-term growth.
