Troops rescue 38 hostages, arrest 82 suspects in major nationwide ops

Military intensifies operations across Nigeria
In a sweeping effort to combat terrorism, kidnapping, and oil theft, Nigerian troops have rescued 38 kidnapped victims and arrested 82 suspects in the past week.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, revealed this at a press briefing, noting that several bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers were neutralized during coordinated land and air operations across key regions.

A major oil theft attempt, valued at over ₦37 million, was also foiled.


North East: Terrorist camps destroyed, civilians rescued
Joint forces operating in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States dismantled multiple Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS hideouts.

  • 16 suspects were arrested.

  • 5 kidnapped civilians were freed.

  • Weapons, IEDs, vehicles, and supplies were seized or destroyed.

Additional operations led to the arrest of 21 terrorist collaborators, while farmers in affected areas reportedly resumed activities without disruptions.


North West: Kidnap victims rescued, suspects in custody
Troops under Operation Fasin Yamma operated across Katsina, Kaduna, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States.

  • 14 kidnap victims were rescued.

  • 11 suspects were arrested across multiple locations.

  • Counterinsurgency raids continued in Chikun, Zaria, Maradun, and more.


North Central: Gunrunners and criminals busted
Troops of Operation Safe Haven and Operation Whirl Stroke:

  • Rescued 15 victims across Plateau, Kaduna, Bauchi, Benue, Taraba, Kogi, and the FCT.

  • Arrested 17 suspects, including arms traffickers.

  • Recovered firearms and large ammunition stockpiles.

One suspect was caught smuggling an AK-47 hidden in a sack of animal feed.


Niger Delta: Oil theft crackdown saves ₦37.5 million in losses
Troops of Operation Delta Safe disrupted illegal oil refining and theft operations in Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa States.

  • 24,575 litres of crude oil and over 11,000 litres of illegal fuel were recovered.

  • 29 suspects arrested.

  • 3 illegal refineries and multiple storage facilities were destroyed.


South East: IPOB/ESN suspects arrested
In operations across Imo, Anambra, and Ebonyi States, troops neutralized armed threats and arrested:

  • 6 suspected IPOB/ESN members

  • 1 kidnapper

Weapons, vehicles, and other evidence were recovered. All suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.


“Our momentum will not slow down” – Military
Major General Kangye confirmed that these operations would continue to intensify.

“Our troops are committed to restoring peace and dismantling criminal networks. Farmers can now return to their fields safely, and we’ll maintain this pressure beyond the farming season,” he said.
