On Friday, December 20, tragedy struck in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, as a fatal car crash claimed the lives of three police officers and a female suspect.
The police officers and the suspect were traveling in a vehicle when a truck lost control and crashed into their car. The accident happened while the officers, who were part of a special police unit, were on their way from Akure, the state capital, to make an arrest in Ore.
A source, who asked to remain anonymous, shared that the victims died instantly at the scene. One police officer was seriously injured and rushed to the hospital.
“The truck lost control while going down the Ore Bridge and crashed into the police vehicle that was in front of it,” the source explained. “The officer with injuries was taken to the hospital. We later found out that the woman who died in the crash was a suspect the officers had come to arrest from Akure.”
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that a report on the accident will be issued soon.
