Sowore vows to scrap WAEC, NECO fees, promises free education if elected

The African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election, Omoyele Sowore, has pledged to abolish registration fees for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) if elected president.

Sowore made the promise on Monday while unveiling what he described as his administration’s education blueprint for Nigeria.

He said his government would provide free education from nursery school to the university level, insisting that access to learning should not depend on a family’s financial situation.

According to him, no Nigerian child should be denied educational opportunities because of poverty.

“No government under a #Sowore2027 administration will ask your child to pay WAEC, NECO, or any other public examination fee. Education will be free because knowledge is a right, not a privilege,” he said.

Sowore also promised to introduce what he described as a comprehensive education policy that would include modern classrooms, virtual learning, improved welfare for teachers, student grants and equal educational opportunities across the country.

He described the proposal as a commitment to building a system where every child can access quality education regardless of their economic background.

The former presidential candidate urged Nigerians to study, discuss and support the proposed education reforms ahead of the 2027 general election.
