Davido opens up about biggest fear, says he prays for the right time to quit music

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his biggest fear is not knowing when to step away from music.

Speaking in a recent video interview, the singer said he is concerned about the challenges celebrities face after losing their fame and relevance.

According to Davido, it is difficult to watch people who were once at the peak of their careers struggle after falling out of the spotlight.

“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful people. Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said.

The singer noted that the pressure to remain successful is not limited to the entertainment industry, pointing to football as an example.

He cited Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, saying the veteran forward still faced criticism despite his achievements in the game.

“Even in soccer, you win World Cup, Champions League and other trophies and people still don’t think it is enough. For instance, look at my good friend Ronaldo – after everything he’s done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup,” Davido said.

The award-winning artiste added that he constantly prays for wisdom to know when it is the right time to retire from music.

“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up,” he said.
