Rescue efforts and casualties

Nine others — three men and six women — were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals, while four passengers escaped without injuries. LASTMA officials, alongside the FRSC, police, and other emergency teams, quickly responded to the scene to manage the chaos and assist victims.

What happened?

Preliminary reports say a blue Volvo truck carrying wooden planks crashed into a white commercial bus. The injured were taken to Federal Medical Centre Epe and Hammond Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were moved to the morgue, awaiting family identification.

LASTMA urges safer driving

LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep sympathy to the families affected and reminded all drivers to stay cautious, especially during the busy Ember Months. He warned that reckless driving and speeding remain major causes of accidents in Lagos.

“Speed thrills, but ultimately kills,” he said, urging drivers to avoid distractions and obey traffic rules to keep roads safer for everyone.
