Rivers State deputy governor, Ngozi Odu, denies resignation rumours

Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, has denied rumours circulating on social media that she resigned from her position.
The rumours gained traction after a viral video suggested that Odu stepped down due to pressure from unnamed sources.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 5, Odu’s media aide, Owupele Benebo, swiftly refuted these claims, describing them as false and misleading.
“The Office of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State wishes to categorically debunk the false and misleading reports suggesting that Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has resigned,” the statement read.
Odu reassured the public of her continued dedication to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration. She urged people to disregard the “baseless claims” and reiterated her commitment to supporting the governor in delivering the benefits of democracy to the people of Rivers State.
“As a seasoned public servant and academic, Prof. Odu is dedicated to supporting the governor in his efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Rivers State,” the statement concluded, making it clear that she has neither resigned nor plans to do so.
