Reekado Banks says Wizkid regretted insulting him during EndSARS protests

Nigerian singer Reekado Banks has revealed that fellow artist Wizkid expressed regret over their public fallout during the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.

The rift between the two artists stemmed from Reekado’s announcement of their collaborative single, “Omo Olomo,” during the height of the nationwide protests against police brutality. Wizkid had reacted harshly at the time, calling Reekado a “fool” and a “clout animal”—a response that shocked many fans and sparked widespread criticism.

However, during a recent interview on The Esther Show, Reekado Banks disclosed that the song release had not been his decision.

“It was my management who insisted on releasing the song at that time. I was actually opposed to it initially,” Reekado said.

“We’re good now” — Reekado on reconciling with Wizkid

Reekado explained that the pair have since reconciled, revealing that Wizkid visited his restaurant recently, and they had a candid conversation.

“He was a little regretful about it. He said he shouldn’t have gone that route,” Reekado shared.
“He even mentioned his behaviour towards Don Jazzy as well. He was like we are three people in the game who recently lost our moms, and he feels sorry about that time.”

Despite the heated exchange in 2020, Reekado emphasized that he and Wizkid are now on good terms.

The reconciliation comes as a welcome development for fans of both artists, especially amid ongoing calls for unity in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
