Real Madrid targets Chelsea’s Fernandez, Leverkusen’s Palacios to fill Luka Modric’s shoes

Real Madrid is actively searching for Luka Modric’s successor as the legendary midfielder prepares to leave the club this summer.
The 39-year-old Croatian will play his final LaLiga match for Los Blancos on Saturday, May 25, when they host Real Sociedad. Modric’s departure will be finalized after Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign later this year.
According to Cadena SER, the Spanish giants have shortlisted two midfielders as potential replacements for the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner: Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea and Exequiel Palacios from Bayer Leverkusen.
Modric, who joined Real Madrid in 2012 from Tottenham Hotspur, leaves behind a glittering legacy with 28 trophies to his name, including six UEFA Champions League titles and four LaLiga championships.
As Madrid plans for a new midfield era, all eyes will be on how these transfer pursuits unfold in the coming months.
