Qatar Airways flight makes emergency landing at Lagos airport

A Qatar Airways aircraft carrying 248 passengers and 12 crew members made an emergency landing on Friday at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, following a technical malfunction while in Nigerian airspace.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed in a statement by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, that the aircraft developed a fault mid-flight, prompting the distress call that was received through LASEMA’s 767/112 toll-free emergency lines.
The pilot executed a safe landing on the runway, with the LASEMA Response Team and other emergency responders on high alert. All passengers were evacuated safely, and no injuries or loss of life were reported.
LASEMA said the aircraft suffered no major damage. Following the landing, it was moved to the apron for detailed inspection and prompt repairs. “Collaborative efforts of multi-agency responders were coordinated. The aircraft has been secured on the apron. Recovery activities have been completed,” the statement added.
