PDP lays out plan to win Lagos, five others in 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aims to win all the states in Nigeria’s South West, including Lagos State, in the 2027 general elections. This was announced by Engr. Ajisafe Kamaru Toyese, the PDP’s National Vice Chairman for the South West, during the swearing-in of the Ogun State PDP Caretaker Committee in Ibadan.

Toyese believes uniting all party members and practicing inclusivity will make this goal achievable. He said, “The task of the committee is to bring all tendencies together to make them one. Despite the manipulation of the election, we won in Ogun State last time. The only state that will be a big win for us is Lagos.”

Toyese praised PDP governors in Oyo and Osun States for their performance. He noted that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has significantly improved infrastructure, while Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has addressed salary arrears and is making substantial progress on projects.

Chief Ladi Adebutu, the PDP’s former governorship candidate in Ogun, expressed disappointment over some party members’ actions but highlighted progress. “We improved by 190,000 votes compared to the previous election,” he said. “We won the election by 50,000 votes, but our chairman claimed we lost. If we stand united, there’s nothing we cannot achieve.”

Following the swearing-in, Awoleye Dada, the new Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, expressed his surprise and determination. “Choosing me was unexpected, but I am confident with the support of the committee. We must ensure Ogun State becomes a PDP stronghold by 2027,” he stated.

Dada praised Governor Makinde’s inclusive approach during local elections in Oyo State and emphasized that the committee is committed to starting work immediately. He concluded, “We have been mandated to hit the ground running and secure victory in the next election.”

The ceremony was attended by key PDP figures, including Alhaja Bosede Adedibu, Alhaji Rahman Owokoniran, and Lukman Adeleye.
