Osinbajo to deliver keynote at 19th ÆLEX annual lecture on rule of law, economic development
The 19th edition of the ÆLEX Annual Lecture, one of Nigeria’s leading platforms for legal and economic dialogue, is scheduled to hold on October 14 in Lagos, with a focus on “Rule of Law and Economic Development: The Nigerian Experience.”
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, will deliver the keynote address, while a high-powered panel will feature Dr Chinyere Almona, Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN, Chairman of Bi-Courtney Group; Mr Bismarck Rewane, Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Ltd.; and journalist and public affairs analyst, Dr Reuben Abati.
Adedapo Tunde-Olowu, SAN, Managing Partner at ÆLEX, said the theme underscores the critical link between the rule of law and Nigeria’s economic advancement. “The rule of law is not merely a legal construct; it is the very foundation upon which economic progress, investor confidence, and sustainable prosperity rest,” he stated.
He noted that the panel’s diverse expertise across law, business, economics, and public affairs would ensure a thought-provoking dialogue. “With their wealth of experience, this year’s panel promises to deliver a robust and impactful conversation,” he added.
Tunde-Olowu also highlighted the legacy of the ÆLEX Annual Lecture, describing it as a platform that has consistently shaped national conversations, influenced thought, and advanced solutions beyond the lecture hall. “We are confident that the 19th edition will not only uphold this tradition of excellence but also surpass it,” he said.
