NSA Ribadu assures Edo people of integrity in Guber elections

With the Edo State governorship election coming up on September 21, the National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has assured members of the general public that security agencies will do everything they can to protect the integrity of the election.

Ribadu, represented by Hassan Yahaya, spoke at an Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) meeting in Abuja. He warned that anyone trying to disrupt the peaceful election process would face serious consequences under the law.

He mentioned that this warning is important because of the history of violence involving some politicians and their supporters in Edo State.

Ribadu stressed that any attempt to interfere with or disrupt the election would be seen as attacking the core values of Nigeria’s democracy. He made it clear that the commitment to ensuring a peaceful election should not be mistaken for weakness.

“The governorship election in Edo State is just a month away,” Ribadu said. “Campaigns are underway, and while there are some disputes, we are prepared to act against anyone who tries to cause trouble.”

He reassured that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to a peaceful election. Ribadu emphasized, “We will use every lawful means to protect the election. Law enforcement agencies are alert and ready to take swift action against anyone trying to disrupt the process.”
