NNPC announces new petrol prices: Lagos N950, Abuja N992, Borno N1,019
NNPC Limited (NNPCL) announced new petrol prices following its latest purchase from Dangote Refinery. The updated prices show an increase for consumers across Nigeria.
According to the statement, petrol will now cost N950 per litre in Lagos, up from N855. In Abuja, the new price is N992.22 per litre, compared to the previous N897. In Borno, the price will be N1,019.22 per litre.
NNPC explained that the petrol was loaded from Dangote Refinery at N898 per litre and invited anyone with different figures to share them publicly. The corporation also noted that, as per the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), PMS (Premium Motor Spirit) prices are negotiated directly between parties and are not set by the government.
The statement added that NNPC is paying Dangote Refinery in USD for September 2024 petrol, with Naira transactions starting on October 1, 2024. NNPC assured that any disputes regarding pricing will be addressed and any discounts received from Dangote Refinery will be fully passed on to the public.
The statement included estimated pump prices for September 2024 at NNPC Retail Stations nationwide, based on current pricing from Dangote Refinery.
