Niger State Govt. renames Airport after President Tinubu

Niger State is set to rename its newly renovated local airport after President Bola Tinubu.

The State Commissioner for Information, Binta Mamman, disclosed this during a press conference held at the Government House, Minna, said the airport which was formerly known as the Abubakar Imam Airport, will now be known as the Bola Tinubu International Airport after the official inauguration.

“All is set for the Niger State Government to receive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Minna, the state capital,” Mamnan said.

According to the state’s spokesperson, the decision to rename the Minna International Airport was made in recognition of President Tinubu’s contributions to the state’s development.

However, this decision has faced criticism from some Nigerians, who question its economic significance.

President Tinubu is scheduled to visit Minna, the capital of Niger state, on Monday to officially inaugurate the upgraded airport and launch an agricultural processing zone.

Last year, Nigerian aviation authorities announced plans to rename 15 federal airports after prominent Nigerians, including former presidents.
