NDDC and NIPR aim for partnership to boost national reputation

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced plans for a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

This commitment was made during a courtesy visit from NIPR’s Rivers State Chapter, led by Chairman Mr. Francis Asuk, to NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.

In a statement released on Tuesday, NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, shared details of the meeting. During the visit, Ifedayo Abegunde, the Executive Director of Corporate Services, emphasized the importance of managing a positive reputation. He explained how this can attract international investments while highlighting that a poor image could push investors away.

Abegunde encouraged the NIPR to formalize their partnership proposal with the NDDC. Mr. Francis Asuk noted that the delegation was there to discuss the upcoming NIPR 2024 Week, which will focus on the theme: “Rebuilding National Reputation through Business Integrity and Public Trust.” Asuk stressed that the event would benefit greatly from NDDC’s participation and support.

He expressed confidence that the NDDC’s involvement would play a key role in improving the relationship between the Niger Delta region and the Federal Government. Both parties recognized the potential for collaboration to enhance trust and strengthen Nigeria’s global image.

Overall, the meeting was described as productive, with both sides showing enthusiasm for building a partnership that could lead to positive change.
