Massive rescue mission underway as Police, Army launch manhunt after Abuja estate kidnapping

On Monday, May 26, a major rescue mission was launched in Abuja after armed attackers broke into an estate and kidnapped two people, but only one was rescued right away.
The FCT Police Command, working with the Nigerian Army and other security teams, has now started a full-scale operation to track down the kidnappers and bring back the second victim safely.
In a statement on Monday, May 26, Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh explained that everything started around 1:00 a.m., when police officers near Grow Homes Estate in Kuchibuyi village, Byazhin, got a distress call. They were told that gunmen had stormed the estate.
According to Adeh, the attackers got in through the back fence and took two people. Police rushed to the scene and got into a 40-minute gunfight with the kidnappers. During that shootout, they were able to rescue one of the victims — a woman named Chinyere Joe — but the kidnappers got away with the second person.
Now, the police’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, with help from the army and other forces, is working hard to find the suspects and rescue the remaining victim.
SP Adeh also urged everyone living in the Federal Capital Territory to stay alert and report anything suspicious to the police right away. If you see or hear something unusual, you can contact them through these emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, or 07057337653.
Stay safe, and remember — quick reporting can save lives.
