Land revocation: Speaker Abbas clarifies, says he’s not owing FCTA
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has responded to claims that he owes outstanding payments for land allocated to him in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), following the revocation of land titles by the Minister of the FCTA, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement issued on Friday, Abbas’ Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, clarified that the Speaker has only one land allocation in the FCT, and all payments for it were settled in October 2024, well before the FCTA’s recent actions.
Krishi described the inclusion of Abbas’ name in the list of individuals with outstanding payments as an error and advised the FCTA to exercise more caution when handling such matters. He further urged the media to verify facts before publishing such sensitive information.
“The Speaker cautions the media to always verify their facts before going to press with such issues,” the statement said, calling for an end to the spread of misleading information about the Speaker.
