Kwara health college to hold first convocation, graduate 5,000
The Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, will graduate 5,000 students at its first convocation ceremony on Saturday, August 24.
Provost Aliyu Alabi shared this information during a pre-convocation news conference on Tuesday, August 20, in Ilorin.
He explained that the ceremony will include graduates from the past five years, as the college, established in 1976, previously held departmental graduations.
Alabi noted that recent state government reforms had improved both the college’s facilities and staff development, including student discipline.
Notable achievements include a 450-meter asphalt road from the college gate to the hostel, a 250-seat ICT center built through a Public-Private Partnership, and ongoing construction of a Dental Health Technology Laboratory and expansion of the Community Health Department’s demonstration room.
Alabi also mentioned that 1,600 graduates have been mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a significant milestone for the institution.
He urged the Federal Government (FG) to include the college in the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) scheme, as funding remains a challenge.
The provost highlighted that the college has produced many healthcare workers who are contributing to the nation’s development.
