Kaduna LP backs Abure, warns against divisive actions
The Labour Party (LP) in Kaduna State has expressed its strong support for National Chairman Barrister Julius Abure.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 30, by LP’s State Chairman Auwal Tafoki, Deputy Chairman Bulus Maisamari, Secretary Peter Hassan, and Chikun Local Government Chairman Yerima Abraham, the party cautioned its members against engaging in activities that could lead to internal conflict.
The party accused certain “selfish individuals and a suspended member” of attempting to manipulate party affairs for their own gain.
The statement emphasized that supporters should stay loyal to the LP’s principles and leadership as the Local Government Elections approach in Kaduna State.
Tafoki highlighted that all 23 Local Government Chairmen in Kaduna are fully backing Abure’s leadership. They believe his leadership will help achieve the party’s goals and meet the needs of the Nigerian people, particularly looking ahead to the 2027 general elections.
“The Labour Party Chairman in Kaduna State, along with the 23 Local Government Area Councils, on August 29, 2024, passed a vote of confidence in our National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure. This support is meant to encourage our leaders to continue fulfilling their party duties and resist efforts by disruptive elements to undermine the Labour Party in Kaduna State and nationwide.”
He added, “It’s important to clarify that there are no factions within the Labour Party in Kaduna State. We are united and committed to making a significant impact in the state and advancing the party’s vision for a new Nigeria, as envisioned by Peter Obi.”
Tafoki also noted that some individuals who ran for office under the party in 2023 are attempting to gain control of the party in Kaduna, but their efforts have so far failed.
“Our focus is now solely on the upcoming Local Government Elections in October. We have already submitted our candidates’ names to the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (Kad-SIECOM) and are confident about our prospects. Distractions are not an option at this crucial time.”
The statement concluded with a call for Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to use his position to help unify the party, aiming to strengthen the Labour Party’s presence and influence across the nation.
