Jonathan, Dickson, NGF mourn late Bayelsa deputy governor Ewhrudjakpo

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and other notable leaders have mourned the sudden death of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who collapsed in his office in Yenagoa on Thursday.

Jonathan described Ewhrudjakpo as a devoted public servant, a true patriot, and a loyal steward of both Bayelsa State and Nigeria. “From his service as Commissioner, to the Senate, and later as Deputy Governor, Senator Ewhrudjakpo was known for his depth, insightful grasp of governance, eloquence, and warm sense of humour,” he said.

Former Bayelsa Governor Seriake Dickson also paid tribute, calling Ewhrudjakpo a rare blend of competence, intellect, loyalty, and selflessness. Dickson noted that the late deputy governor distinguished himself in challenging times and lived a simple life with profound impact.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) expressed deep sadness over his passing, describing him as a visionary public servant whose dedication and values in service will remain indelible to colleagues and friends.
