Iran executes man over alleged Mossad spy links

The Iranian judiciary has announced the execution of a man convicted of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. The execution took place on Wednesday morning as tensions remain high following recent military conflicts in the region.

The convict, identified as Mehdi Farid, faced charges of extensive cooperation with what authorities described as a “terrorist spy service.” This hanging is the latest in a series of capital punishments carried out by the Iranian government recently.

Judiciary confirms death penalty for espionage

According to the judiciary’s official news outlet, the court found Farid guilty of “corruption on earth” through his intelligence work for the Zionist regime. The final verdict received approval after a detailed examination of the case files.

While officials did not disclose the exact date of his arrest, they linked his activities to broader attempts to destabilize the nation. The government maintains that external agencies have been actively recruiting informants to incite internal unrest.

Regional tensions and the current ceasefire

This execution comes during a fragile period for the country, which has seen direct military confrontations with both Israel and the United States. Although a ceasefire has been in place since April 8, 2026, the internal crackdown on suspected spies has intensified.

Human rights groups have raised concerns over the speed of recent trials and the use of the death penalty for political offenses. Nevertheless, the Iranian leadership insists that these measures are necessary to protect national security and deter foreign interference.
