Senator Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto South has declared that he will never join the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating firmly that he has no interest in seeking what he described as political “forgiveness of sins.”
Speaking to his supporters upon returning to Sokoto, the former governor emphasized his commitment to remaining in the opposition, despite mounting political pressure.
“I do not want my sins to be forgiven, so I can’t join the APC,” Tambuwal said. “I cannot be intimidated. I cannot be blackmailed. No one can tarnish my records.”
He described the current political divide in Nigeria as being between those aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s government and those aligned with the Nigerian people. He asserted that he had chosen to stand with the people.
Tambuwal is a key figure in Nigeria’s opposition coalition and has previously served as both governor and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
His comments come amid reports by Daily Post that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently detained him in Abuja over allegations of a N189 billion cash withdrawal fraud.
