Veteran actor Chief Kanran dies at 70

Veteran Nollywood actor Olusegun Akinremi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has passed away at the age of 70.
The news of his death was confirmed on Friday by film producer Seun Oloketuyi, who shared the announcement via Instagram.
“Popular actor Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, died Friday morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.
Chief Kanran was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry, known for his distinctive acting style, charisma, and sharp sense of humour. Over the years, he built a legacy with powerful stage and screen performances that endeared him to audiences across generations.
He was widely regarded as one of the foundational figures in Yoruba theatre and Nollywood, and his passing marks the end of an era for the industry.
