Veteran Nigerian entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has issued a blunt warning to politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that any attempt to manipulate the electoral process will come at a steep cost.
Speaking during an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica, the outspoken septuagenarian—popularly known as Area Fada—described the upcoming election as a turning point for Nigeria.
“The 2027 election will be a defining moment for Nigeria. Anybody that plans to rig should be ready to die. It is rig and die,” Charly Boy said.
He stressed that Nigerians are becoming more politically aware and that the collective frustration across the country could ignite a nationwide uprising if electoral fraud continues.
“By that time, our eye go clear well well. E don clear small o. What we are about to see in 2026 will make Nigerians decide whether to continue in this manner or to cause a revolution to happen in this country,” he warned.
Charly Boy emphasized that credible elections remain the only viable solution to ending bad governance in Nigeria.
“The solution to bad governance in Nigeria can only come when our votes begin to count. So, our concern right now should be how our votes would count in 2027,” he added.
Reacting to the Lagos State Government’s recent move to rename the ‘Charly Boy Bus Stop’ in Bariga, he dismissed the decision as a petty distraction.
“It’s outright silly and a bloody distraction,” he said, noting that his focus remains on advocating for the welfare of ordinary Nigerians who “go to bed hungry every day.”
Charly Boy has long been known for his activism and blunt commentary on national issues, often using his platform to call out political injustice and demand accountability.
