Governor Bala Mohammed doubles down on President Tinubu criticisms

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has stated that he has no regrets about criticizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies.

Governor Mohammed, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had voiced his concerns about the President’s policies during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests, arguing that they were causing hardship for the people.

Speaking at a State Executive Council meeting in Bauchi on Wednesday, August 14, Mohammed explained that as a national leader, it’s his responsibility to speak out on important issues, even if they are controversial. He stressed that his goal was not to offend anyone but to address pressing issues accurately.

He described the recent protests as a wake-up call for the presidency and all levels of government. “As leaders, whether in councils or as commissioners, we need to pay attention when Nigerians speak out against poor governance,” he said. “It’s important to listen and respond to their concerns, especially when expectations are not being met.”

Mohammed acknowledged that national policies and global economic conditions have added to the challenges faced by people. Despite this, he insisted that his criticism was meant to be constructive and aimed at benefiting both the government and Nigerian citizens.

He concluded, “Anyone who criticizes me for speaking out should understand that this is part of leadership. I don’t apologize for addressing these issues. My comments were meant to be responsible, not to create discord. This is about fulfilling our duties, not about politics.”

The governor also assured that his administration remains committed to creating policies and programs to improve the lives of the people, despite facing challenges and limited resources.
