Ganduje denies involvement in alleged plot against Kano Emir
Chief Oliver Okpala, Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed recent allegations that Ganduje is plotting to dethrone Emir Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi of Kano.
The claims originated from an online report titled “Ganduje leads a fresh plot to dethrone Emir Muhammadu Sanusi,” suggesting that powerful individuals in Kano, allegedly led by Ganduje, were working to remove Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano.
In response, Chief Okpala stated, “Nothing could be further from the truth.” He emphasized that Ganduje is no longer the Governor of Kano and cannot be linked to any current plots regarding the Emir.
“It should be made clear that Dr. Ganduje has nothing to do with the present enthronement or dethronement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi in Kano state. He has moved on and is now focused on national issues as the leader of the APC,” Okpala said.
He found it “laughable” that Ganduje, having left office for years, would be accused of orchestrating a new plot against the Emir. The allegations included claims that he was also advising Alhaji Ado Bayero to abdicate his throne, which Okpala called “preposterous and absurd.”
Okpala further stated, “Dr. Ganduje has a great respect for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and their relationship is cordial. No amount of blackmail can damage this partnership.”
He concluded by urging those behind the allegations to refrain from dragging Ganduje into what he described as “sinister moves” aimed at creating division. “The people of Kano state love and appreciate Dr. Ganduje for his service during his tenure as Governor,” he said.
