Four Labour Party lawmakers join APC in major defection
On Thursday, December 5, a significant shift took place in the Nigerian House of Representatives as four lawmakers from the Labour Party (LP) defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defecting lawmakers represent four different states: Chinedu Okere from Owerri Municipal/Owerri North/Owerri West Constituency in Imo State, Mathew Donatus from Kaura Federal Constituency in Kaduna, Akiba Bassey from Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Constituency in Cross River, and Esosa Iyawe from Oredo Federal Constituency in Edo.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen made the announcement of the defections on the floor of the House
