Former President Buhari expresses sorrow over Jigawa tanker explosion

Former President Muhammadu Buhari has shared his deep sadness following the tragic oil tanker explosion in Majiya, Jigawa State, which took the lives of over 105 people and left many others injured.

In a statement from his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari called the incident one of the deadliest tragedies in Nigeria’s recent history. He offered his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for a swift recovery for those hurt.

The explosion happened on Tuesday when a petrol tanker overturned and caught fire. Local residents had gathered at the scene, reportedly trying to collect leaking fuel before the explosion took place. The incident resulted in at least 55 people being treated for injuries at Ringim General Hospital.

Buhari expressed his sorrow, describing the loss as painful for the victims’ families and the entire nation. He emphasized the need for prayers for those injured and called for their speedy recovery.

This accident has raised important concerns about road safety and the risks associated with tanker accidents in Nigeria. Many are calling for stricter regulations and safety measures to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
