Police officer Michael Isuwa reportedly shot dead by DSS officers in Delta State

On Thursday, April 24, reports surfaced that a serving police officer, Michael Isuwa, was shot dead by officers from the Department of State Security Service (DSS) in Delta State.

The tragic incident occurred on April 23 at the residence of Chief Abuah Lucky in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of the state.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who focuses on the Lake Chad region, revealed the incident in a post on his X handle. According to Makama, intelligence sources reported that the shooting took place around 11:30 a.m. when police officers were called to investigate a confrontation at the residence.

Isuwa, who was attached to the 48 PMF Ahoada in Rivers State but serving at Henric Empire Garden, owned by Chief Abuah Lucky, was found lifeless in front of the residence, in a pool of blood. The police officer was reportedly shot by DSS personnel, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

The situation was swiftly brought under control by local authorities. Seven DSS officers and two civilians have been arrested in connection with the incident, and the body of the deceased officer has been taken to the Ibusa General Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.

An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
