Expelled members causing disunity in NNPP – Dr. Ajuji Ahmed
The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, accused a group of expelled former members of the party of attempting to destroy the party from within.
Speaking at the Annual INEC Verification Exercise in Abuja, Ahmed said that the expelled group was spreading falsehoods and propaganda, claiming that the management of the party had been handed over to them. He emphasized that the presence of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the event confirmed that his faction represents the authentic NNPP.
“We have a group of expelled former members of our party who have made themselves tools in the hands of another party and are being used to cause disunity and disaffection within the ranks of the New Nigeria Peoples Party,” Ahmed stated.
He further highlighted that the presence of INEC at the verification exercise proved the legitimacy of his faction and reiterated that NNPP would continue to be the ruling party in Kano State and a strong opposition party nationwide.
“We intend to continue to play our role as the ruling party in Kano State, and a viable and constructive opposition in all other parts of the country,” he added.
Ahmed also warned the party’s members against engaging in anti-party activities, saying, “This is a democratic party. However, we shall not tolerate members who engage in anti-party activities to do so with impunity. No matter how highly placed, all members are expected to remain disciplined and operate within the ambit of our Constitution. The internal mechanisms of our party shall be guarded jealously.”
