EPL: Liverpool opens gap to seven points at the summit
Liverpool has pulled away from the rest of the pack, after a ruthless Anfield display on Boxing Day against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City in the Premier League on December 26.
Arne Slot suffered a set back, drawing two consecutive games before this game. With Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk still waiting for contract renewals, the Reds have been trying to do all they can to finish the season at the top of the league table.
Liverpool went behind in the 6th minute through Jordan Ayew, but Reds fans had to wait till halftime added time to see an equalizer. It came through Cody Gakpo.
Four minutes after the second half started, Curtis Jones put the home side ahead. Salah, not wanting to miss an opportunity to add to his goal tally, scored a sumptuous goal in the 82nd minute to seal Leicester’s fate.
This win puts the 6-time Champions League winners seven points clear at the top of the table, while relegation threatened Leicester remains, well…relegation-threatened, in 18th.
