Edo government addresses Shaibu’s visit to Radisson Hotel site
On Monday, September 30, the Edo Government expressed concerns about Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu’s recent visit to the Radisson Hotel site in the Government Reserves Area (GRA) of Benin.
They warned him to respect existing laws following a video that showed him inspecting the hotel as if he were still in office.
Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser on Media Projects to Governor Godwin Obaseki, pointed out that even though a court reinstated Shaibu as Deputy Governor, the state government has appealed that decision. He urged Shaibu not to interfere with the governance process.
“Shaibu, like any other citizen, can tour the impressive projects of Governor Obaseki. However, both he and the security agencies must not take actions that break the law,” Osagie stated.
He added that Shaibu should be patient and wait for the Appeal Court to address his case, emphasizing the importance of following the law.
The government reassured the people of Edo State that they can continue their daily activities peacefully. “Rest assured that the government will always work to protect lives and property in line with state laws,” he concluded.
