Dickson Iroegbu of PDP criticizes Tinubu’s Plateau visit over Palm Sunday killings
A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)/Obidient Movement, Dickson Iroegbu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for his recent visit to Jos, Plateau State, following the Palm Sunday killings. He accused the president of failing to show empathy to the victims’ families.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Friday, Iroegbu described the visit as “anti-climax,” noting that the president’s reaction at the airport, including complaints about power outage, was inappropriate.
“Things have happened all over Nigeria, and the president never visited. He finally visited Plateau, and it was anti-climax,” Iroegbu said. “The president has not demonstrated empathy or shown he is a chief mourner. He stops over at the Plateau airport, complaining about the light. Who should produce the light?”
He added that the president’s actions showed a lack of commitment to safeguarding Nigerians’ lives and suggested that voters should use their ballots to hold the government accountable.
“Permanent solutions can only come from our thumbs to vote. Let us vote out a government that has failed. That way, any government that comes in will be afraid of what the people will do if they don’t perform,” Iroegbu said.
