Demolishing homes of 10,000 people makes FCT unsafe – VeryDarkMan to Wike
Martins Ortse, better known as VeryDarkMan, has spoken out about the recent demolition of homes in the Ruga community in Abuja. He told the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, that demolishing the homes of over 10,000 people could make the city more unsafe.
VeryDarkMan said he’s not trying to blackmail Wike, but instead, he’s urging the minister to find a solution for those whose homes were destroyed.
Wike had ordered a task force called “Operation Sweep” to tear down homes in Ruga and other parts of the capital as part of an effort to clear the area of what he called “nuisances” and criminal activities. After the demolitions, Wike explained that the goal was to make the FCT safer.
Visiting the demolished Ruga community, Wike said, “No amount of blackmail or abuse will stop us. We’re doing our job to protect lives and make Abuja one of the safest cities in the world.”
But VeryDarkMan disagreed with Wike’s reasoning. He posted on Instagram, saying, “Dear Nyesom Wike, I wasn’t paid, and I’m sure Deji Adeyanju wasn’t either. I’m just asking you to be kind and relocate the people whose homes were destroyed. You can’t keep Abuja safe by doing this. What you’re doing now could cause problems for us in the future.”
