Court upholds suspension of PDP’s Ali Odefa over anti-party allegations
The Federal High Court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, has affirmed the suspension of Ali Odefa, the former National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over allegations of anti-party activities. The suspension, initially imposed on October 4, 2024, by the PDP’s executive committee in his Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area, has now been validated by the court.
Justice Hilary Oshomah, delivering the judgment in the case Hon. Ovuta Herbert Onyedikachi & Ors v. Chief Ali Odefa & Ors (Suit No. FHC/AI/CS/182/2024), ruled that Odefa’s suspension was lawful and binding. The judge directed Odefa to stop parading himself as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP, emphasizing that the suspension took full effect from November 29, 2024.
The court’s decision underscores the PDP’s commitment to enforcing party discipline and integrity among its members. Odefa has not publicly commented on the ruling.
