BREAKING: President Tinubu appoints new NIA, DSS DGs
President Bola Tinubu has announced new appointments for the leadership of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the new Director-General of the NIA. Mohammed has had a distinguished career in the foreign service since joining the NIA in 1995, with previous roles including serving as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya. He has also worked in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi is the new Director-General of the DSS. Ajayi, who previously served as Assistant Director-General of the Service, has held various positions including State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
The appointments come after the resignation of the former heads of both agencies.
In a statement from President Tinubu’s spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, the President expressed confidence that the new directors will enhance the effectiveness of the NIA and DSS. Tinubu emphasized the importance of their roles in addressing the country’s security challenges through improved collaboration and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President also thanked the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
