Bala Mohammed responds to Wike’s threat, says he is frustrated

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has criticized Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling him a frustrated politician. Mohammed’s remarks came in response to Wike’s recent threat to “put fire” in the states of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors who have supported Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

The PDP Governors’ Forum had previously condemned Wike’s threat, emphasizing that such actions are unwarranted.

While hosting members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) in Bauchi on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Governor Mohammed addressed Wike’s comments. He described Wike as “frustrated” and assured that the disagreements within the party are not personal.

“The issues we discuss are never personal. No one should misconstrue our disagreements. We are united in Bauchi, and no one can set it on fire. Bauchi has enough resources to handle any challenge,” Mohammed stated.

He downplayed Wike’s comments, affirming that their relationship remains amicable despite the tension. “My friend who made that comment is simply frustrated. Perhaps I said something that upset him, but it’s not personal. My friend remains my friend, and my commitment to leadership remains strong,” he added.

Governor Mohammed emphasized the importance of unity among party members to prevent the PDP’s collapse, which he credited with significant developments in the country.

PDP National Legal Advisor Kamaldeen Ajibade Adeyemi, SAN, reassured Governor Mohammed of the NWC’s support, stating, “We believe it is important to stand with you and assure you that whatever steps the Governors’ Forum takes, the National Working Committee will always be ready to implement them.”
