Air Chief Abubakar directs commanders to intensify air strikes on terrorists, bandits

On Tuesday, August 27, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, instructed Air Component Commanders across Nigeria to continue and strengthen their air assaults against terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups, including those involved in illegal refineries and bunkering.

In a statement from the Director of NAF Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, it was revealed that the CAS issued this directive during a virtual meeting with the commanders. Abubakar emphasized the importance of relentless action against these threats and commended the commanders for their recent successes.

“The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has directed Air Component Commanders to intensify their efforts in ongoing operations. This directive was given during a virtual meeting on August 26, 2024,” the statement said.

Abubakar praised the commanders for their exceptional performance, which has led to significant victories, including the elimination of key terrorist leaders and disruption of oil theft activities. He acknowledged their hard work and dedication, which have played a crucial role in enhancing national security.

“We must continue to hit them hard until they are defeated by our superior might,” Abubakar said. He urged the commanders to maintain their momentum, use intelligence effectively, and collaborate with other military services to address remaining threats.

He also reassured the commanders that the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will support them with the necessary resources and equipment to enhance their operational capabilities. The CAS expressed confidence in their ability to achieve their goals, stressing that national security and peace are top priorities.

Recent air strikes in Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Rivers, and Imo States have been recognized for their impact, and the CAS has promised continued support and resource allocation to ensure lasting peace and security in Nigeria.

“While we have made commendable progress, we must not rest on our laurels,” Abubakar said. “The safety of our nation relies on our ongoing commitment and resolve. The Nigerian Air Force will provide all necessary support to ensure the success of our missions.”
