Edo Governor orders contractors to fix roads just 24 hours after taking office

Just one day after being sworn in, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has ordered contractors to return to work on fixing the bad roads in Benin City.

In his speech when he took office, Governor Okpebholo shared his five main goals for his time in office, which include improving security, building better roads, providing affordable healthcare, making sure everyone has enough water and food, and making education better for all.

The governor made the order while inspecting the Upper Mission Extension Road by Aduwawa Junction and the Ramat Park area in Benin City. He said his administration is following President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” and that he’s determined to make life better for the people of Edo State.

“I promised during my campaign that we would get to work right away,” Okpebholo said. “Today, I’ve ordered contractors back to work. We don’t have time to waste. There’s only one dry season in a year, and we need to fix these roads now.”

He assured Edo people that they would soon see improvements in their roads, which have been in bad shape for a while. “Edo people deserve good roads, and I’m here to make that happen,” he added.

Work will start on several roads, including the 7.5 km Temboga Road, Lucky Way Junction near Aduwawa, and the Ramat Park to Slope Axis. The governor also promised that contractors would begin work on Eyaen Road and the Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway.

Governor Okpebholo said his government will focus on the people of Edo and ensure they benefit from the improvements.
