EFCC recovers over N248 billion from crime in one year
On Thursday, October 31, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced that it has recovered over N248 billion from criminal activities in the past year.
Wilson Uwajaren, the Director of Public Affairs for the EFCC, shared this update, highlighting the agency’s achievements in fighting financial crime. He also mentioned that the EFCC recovered more than £53,000 and €172,000, along with €5,000 for victims of crime in Spain.
Uwajaren noted that the commission is enhancing its rapid response efforts, which is expected to reduce incidents of cybercrime. Additionally, the EFCC has secured over 35 convictions related to Naira abuse at social events.
He also revealed that three new directorates will be established in Ekiti, Katsina, and Anambra states to further strengthen the agency’s operations.
