30 killed in Zuru bandit attacks, Kebbi government pledges action

At least 30 people have been confirmed dead following recent banditry attacks on communities in the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State.

Chairmen of Zuru and Danko Wasagu Local Government Areas, Muhammad Gajere and Hussaini Bena, disclosed that 16 victims were killed in Tadurga, while 14 others died in Kyebu and Yar-Kuka, located in Waje District. Several others sustained injuries, and the attackers reportedly carted away livestock and other valuables.

Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Tafida, who visited the affected communities on Friday on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris, expressed the government’s condolences to the families of the victims. He assured residents that efforts would be intensified to strengthen security across the region, including plans to block all entry points into Tadurga and Kyebu to prevent further incursions.

“We are committed to protecting the lives and property of our people,” Tafida said during the visit, adding that the government would not rest until peace is restored.

The Deputy Governor also offered prayers for the deceased and comforted the grieving families, urging them to remain resilient.

The Chief of Dabai, Alhaji Suleman Dabai, applauded the state government for its prompt intervention and attributed recent improvements in local security to Governor Idris’ leadership.

In a gesture of support, Senator Tafida announced a ₦50 million donation to the affected communities ₦25 million each to Tadurga and Kyebuas a relief effort to help the bereaved cope with the aftermath of the violence.
