VP Shettima mourns passing of Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed profound sadness over the death of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the revered leader of Nigeria’s Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, who died at the age of 101.
In a condolence message on Thursday, VP Shettima described the late scholar as one of Nigeria’s greatest Islamic teachers, whose teachings and exemplary life touched millions of Muslims across the country and beyond. He noted that Sheikh Dahiru’s extraordinary longevity allowed multiple generations to benefit from his profound knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual guidance.
“We have lost a spiritual guide, a teacher, and a moral compass whose dedication to Islamic scholarship spanned more than a century. Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was among the great pillars of Islamic knowledge in our time. His life was a demonstration of faith, learning, and service to Allah and humanity,” Shettima said.
The Vice President also praised the scholar’s lifelong commitment to spreading Islamic knowledge and strengthening the Tijjaniyya Brotherhood in Nigeria and West Africa. He added that Sheikh Dahiru’s legacy of scholarship and service will continue to inspire future generations.
Shettima prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for the late scholar and for strength for his family, the Tijjaniyya Brotherhood, and the Muslim Ummah to bear the loss.
