Uche Maduagwu defends Judy Austin, says she didn’t use charms on Yul Edochie

Controversial Nollywood actor Uche Maduagwu has come to the defense of Judy Austin, the second wife of fellow actor Yul Edochie, amid widespread speculation that she used charms to win his affection.

Maduagwu dismissed the claims, stating that Yul’s attachment to Judy stems from the respect and admiration she consistently shows him—qualities he suggests were missing in Yul’s first marriage to May Edochie.

In a recent statement, Maduagwu claimed that many modern marriages collapse because, after marriage, women stop treating their husbands with the reverence they once showed during courtship.

“Judy did not use juju on Yul,” Maduagwu said. “She only treated him as a king and lord, and that is why he is having happiness. I do not support what Judy did—everybody knows I don’t. In fact, I am angry that she got pregnant with Yul. But this should be a lesson to married women.”

He added that many men feel unhappy and unappreciated in their marriages but often suffer in silence.

“Before a man marries a woman, she worships him. But when they finally get married, the woman begins to change her character. Many women no longer treat their husbands as kings, and that’s why some homes become unhappy,” he argued.

While his comments have sparked fresh debate online, Maduagwu maintained that his intent was not to justify Judy’s controversial relationship with Yul Edochie, but to highlight what he sees as a broader issue in marriages today.
