Trump threatens to halt U.S. aid over alleged christian killings in Nigeria

United States President Donald Trump has again condemned what he calls “genocide” against Christians in Nigeria, warning that his administration may halt American aid to the country if the attacks continue.
Speaking on a conservative radio programme on Friday, in comments captured by Fox News, Trump said “thousands” of Christians were being killed in Nigeria and accused the Nigerian government of failing to curb violence carried out by Islamist extremist groups.
Trump recently returned Nigeria to the U.S. list of “Countries of Particular Concern” and has repeatedly hinted at possible military action if, according to him, the killings persist.
He described Nigeria as “a disgrace,” insisting that Washington could withdraw subsidies and other forms of support if the government does not “do more” to protect vulnerable communities.
“They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide, and I’m really angry about it,” he said. “We give a lot of subsidies to Nigeria. We’re going to end up stopping.”
The latest remarks add to growing tension between both countries as U.S. pressure intensifies over escalating insecurity in parts of northern and Middle Belt Nigeria.
