Troops kill notorious terrorist Yellow Danbokkolo in northwest operation

Troops of Operation Fasan Yamma have eliminated a notorious terrorist known as Yellow Danbokkolo after a weeklong encounter in the Northwest.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Markus Kangye, confirmed the killing in a statement on Tuesday, July 1, in Abuja.

Kangye said the operation was carried out in conjunction with hybrid forces supported by air components and other security agencies, based on credible intelligence about the movements of fleeing bandits and terrorists.

“During the encounter, a notorious terrorist kingpin, Yellow Danbokkolo, who for years has terrorized residents of Eastern Sokoto, sustained serious gunshot wounds.

“He subsequently died on Monday, June 24, from the injuries sustained during the fierce battle with our troops.

“It is believed that Yellow Danbokkolo was even more feared than Bello Turji, as he masterminded the December 2021 arson attack on travellers in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara, where all passengers were burnt to death,” he said.

Kangye added that the neutralised kingpin relied heavily on pentazocine to sustain his cruelty and heinous activities.

He said the troops, with renewed determination, are still hunting for Bello Turji, who remains in hiding.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria are committed to restoring normalcy in all parts of the country and call for the cooperation of all Nigerians in this effort,” Kangye added. (NAN)
