The Big 6 Review – GW11: Only Man City and Chelsea stand tall by Olaoluwa Nwobodo

Another Big 6 Review is here, and this time, there were two big games. The Big 6 teams are all occupying top-8 positions in the table as we speak. Sunderland and Aston Villa are the other clubs in there.

Man City and Chelsea were the only Big Six sides that enjoyed victories, pushing themselves to 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. With Liverpool suffering the heaviest defeat of the bunch, let’s get into the Premier League Big 6 Review for Game Week 11.

Chelsea: Not again, Wolves

Chelsea 3-0 Wolves

Chelsea seemed to be cruising to victory the last time these sides met. Wolves looked as though they would produce a late comeback, but the Blues scraped through.

Fans would have thought Enzo Maresca’s men were about to repeat the same struggles, especially after the Blues failed to score in the first half.

Chelsea came hot in the last 45 minutes, though, putting a shaky Wolves side to the sword.

Arsenal: No way past stubborn Sunderland

Sunderland 2-2 Arsenal

Sunderland was great against Arsenal. Regis Le Bris’s men simply stayed as disciplined as they could, while doing as much with the ball as possible. This put the home side in a good position for most of the game.

Sunderland took the lead, but couldn’t hold it for long, and the game was level at half time. Arsenal then took the lead deep into the second half, and it seemed Sunderland’s hard work would all come to nothing.

Le Bris’s men had other ideas though, scoring in added time to leave with a deserved point.

Manchester United: Amorim getting the fans back on his side

Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United

In the last five games, only two teams have managed to not lose a game, and Man United is one of them. This match was filled with drama, though lacking in quality. Manchester United survived through the hard work of Matthijs De Ligt, Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo. Ruben Amorim’s men showed some resilience, especially when it seemed Tottenham had turned the game on its head.

This resilience, many fans would admit, was lacking last season. Though the Red Devils sit in 8th place, only 3 points separate them from second place, which is crazy to think about.

Tottenham: Comeback…almost

Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United

Tottenham was the better side on the night, but not by much. Thomas Frank’s men showed good spirit to go ahead from a losing position. Mathys Tel and Richarlison engineered a comeback, but De Ligt ruined what would have been a party for the home side.

Tottenham’s goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was a non factor, allowing every shot he faced.

Manchester City: Golden Jeremy Doku performance

Man City 3-0 Liverpool

Manchester City slapped Liverpool. The match went Pep Guardiola’s way from start to finish. City’s dominance was highlighted by the penalty the home side got in the 10th minute. That penalty ironically enough, was the only clear cut chance Man City got.

It was an easy game for Guardiola’s men, and Haaland, who still got – and took – another chance to get on the scoreboard. After missing the penalty in the 13th minute, he still converted a chance in the 29th minute to put his team ahead.

Jeremy Doku was the Man of the Match though. He was excellent in everything. His dribbling and shooting were top notch.

Liverpool: Horrid

Man City 3-0 Liverpool

The Reds were horrible. My goodness! All the key players for Arne Slot’s men were no where to be found. Mohamed Salah has been poor this season, and Sunday was no different.

Florian Wirtz has struggled to find his feet in the Premier league, registering 0 goals, 0 assists and 1 big chance, in 11 games. This is unusable for a side looking to do big things.

Slot won the hearts of Liverpool fans with a league title in the last campaign, and that will buy him some time, but these performances have to improve. Pronto!
