Telecom Egypt partners Indian company to improve local skills

Telecom Egypt and an Indian optical, broadband, and data networking products company, Tejas Networks, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen telecom research and skill development, among other things, in Egypt.

Tejas Networks will use its experience implementing the Egypt projects Bharatnet (Rural Broadband Project) and NKN (National Knowledge Network) to execute this one.

As a result of this partnership, the Indian broadband company will also create technical support services in Egypt to assist customers within the country and in other parts of Africa.

According to the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Egypt, Amr Talaat, this partnership is expected to encourage “localization of world-class communications products, inject new Indian investments into Egypt, create job opportunities, and develop research cadres in various fields of communications.”

Managing Director and CEO of Tejas Networks, Anand Athreya, also expressed the company’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s local ecosystem in telecom manufacturing, research and development, network planning, installation, and maintenance.

According to Mordor Intelligence report, Egypt’s Telecom Market revenue is expected to register a CAGR of 3.65% over the next five years.
