Taraba governor Agbu Kefas to join APC on November 19

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has announced he will defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19. Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Kefas said the move “has to do with the destiny of Taraba people” and hinted at a large turnout expected for the official ceremony.

“There is going to be a major shift and alignment on November 19. I will officially transition from PDP to APC. It is a movement that has to do with the destiny of Taraba people,” he stated.

Kefas is the latest in a series of 2025 PDP governors to join the APC, following Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa.

Elected in 2023 with 257,926 votes, Kefas defeated Muhammad Yahaya of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Emmanuel Bwacha of the APC. Since 1999, all Taraba governors had been members of the PDP.
